Interior designer Marie Flanigan explains how she transformed an outdated “river rock” fireplace surround into a contemporary centerpiece using smooth, stained concrete. “The concrete fabricator was able to pour the fireplace surround with minimal seaming to achieve a smooth look that still lends textural variety,” Flanigan said.
