However, what many don’t realize is that concrete is inherently porous, which means it’s highly susceptible to absorbing water and corrosive salts—especially chlorides that can compromise steel reinforcement within.
To maintain the integrity of concrete over time, applying a sealer is a crucial step—whether the concrete is newly poured or already existing. Concrete sealers act as water repellents, creating a protective barrier that reduces or eliminates the absorption of moisture and soluble contaminants.
