As detailed by ASCE in their case study “An Innovative Way to Repair Damaged Concrete Floors Using Epoxy Adhesives”, researchers examined an industrial concrete floor in Poland to assess damage from age and poor workmanship. The study introduced an innovative epoxy coating modified with granite powder, designed to improve performance and durability. By adding 10% to 60% granite powder, researchers found that a 20% mix increased pull-off strength by 18% compared to standard coatings.
This modified epoxy also delivered significantly better thermal shock resistance—an area where standard coatings often fail. The study demonstrates how epoxy systems can be customized for industrial renovations, providing stronger and longer-lasting results.
